if the share price doesn’t increase, I think we could be looking at the highest % dividend yield in asx history for a large cap (not that I have any idea what the current record is).
your analysis is more accurate and comprehensive. Another more simplistic demonstration of dividend firepower is as follows:
* cash on hand at end sept $3.4 billion
* debt repayment October $1.5 billion (us$1.0 billion)
* cash generation rate is $0.63 billion / month (based on 3rd quarter)
* total cash generation until final dividend payment at end April is $4.4 billion (7 months cash generation)
* so by End April next year approx $6.3 billion in cash will be available, less any taxes paid (noting debt of us$0.8 billion would still outstanding also - not sure if there are any early repayment restrictions on this remaining debt?)
*current market cap $7 billion
if the share price keeps falling, yal could pay out more than it’s market cap in dividends
