The brutality of the resistance and the mobs in recent days is certainly terrible and should be condemned.

But it's not a (delayed) justification for invasion of a sovereign nation that posed no threat. Americans now are saying get outa there and let them fight among themselves, but Bush and Cheney will never do that.

They want the oil they promised their backers. They want the power of controlling the oil supply. Never mind bringing democracy to Iraq - that's an insult to the intelligence (though many gullible fools here and in the US buy that crap).

As for - "they hate us cos we love freedom" - good grief.
