Yanzhou Coal says not in talks to buy Felix yet

HONG KONG, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Yanzhou Coal Mining <1171.HK>, China's No. 3 coal producer, has been seeking investment opportunities at home and overseas but has not held formal talks with Australian coal producer Felix Resources (FLX.AX
FLX.AX , 7.740, +2.300, +42.280%) yet, a company official said.
"We have been approached by intermediaries but we are just reaching a preliminary understanding and there have been no formal talks yet," an company official told Reuters on Friday.
Trading in Yanzhou Coal was suspended on Friday morning.
Shares in Felix Resources jumped more than 80 percent earlier in the day after the Australian Financial Review reported that Yanzhou Coal was in talks to buy the Australian firm. [ID:nSYD426769] (Reporting by Ruth Wong; Editing by Jonathan Hopfner)
