Terrific news, kaya....you must be tickled.
I just hope Dave R was equally lucky with his old house...
Now, rush out & buy a Lotto ticket before your luck fades...
I think its awesome that there were no deaths, mate...the media projections were that deaths were inevitable....
You know, it seems a lot of projections were based on that scary & colourful IR Satellite imagery that everyone was running with....It was quite late yesterday when I started comparing it with the actual BOM radar imagery and felt that maybe things werent going to be so bad. I was right. Sure, there was a lot of damage to homes in the Innisfail area, and that is still sad, but at least no one died.
With Yasi downgraded to a 2, our 0 casualty status should remain unless someone gets unlucky or does something stupid.
Electrocution would be the biggest danger. A Geraldton girl died in our recent cyclone after stepping on a fallen wire.
Now get out there & start shovelling that beach sand back onto the beach, lol.
I was in Coolangatta in 1967 just after a cyclone & the beach had been washed away up as far as the beachfront road.
cheers
