It is a pity many Politicians choose Law over engineering-- if Pollies were engineers they would make proper decisions about the validity of Batteries, wind, solar Uranium and coal.

I do not know a single engineer ( I mix with 100's consulting engineers) who believes anything other than coal is the solution at the moment.
    - Nuclear is perfect but will never be allowed
-Gas works but is 4x the cost of coal
-6 coal plants must be built immediately. We have 1000-3000 years supply at the current rate of export.
In the fullness of time, unsubsidised alternate power will be developed and if it is practicable We will be the first to implement it.

The engineers consensus about CO2- these are facts.
97% comes from natural sources, so even if all the 3% (cars, coal power, etc) was stopped nothing would change anyway.
If the rest of the world is building 1600 new coal plants, how will our six new ones make a statistical difference?
And why would we compromise Australia by not using coal?
Australia in any case over absorbs all the CO2 we produce, in the vegetation over our land. So we are a net importer of CO2!!!
