This bear market was exaserbated by the abolition of the uptick rule in the US about twelve months ago,that is,only a stock that is going up may be shorted,not shorts on shorts.In a downward trending market such as we have had in the last twelve months that is a recipe for disaster.The rule worked well for 65 years,time to bring it back,which I think they will.
