    My maternal grandfather did that after WW1. When WW11 came around he said: "They can kiss my ass, I'm not going to kill any more children." Apparently, the Hun were sending boys as young as 12 into the trenches in WW1. He died in his 40's from bullet wounds and frostbite he suffered in WW1.
