They have a point. If the electricity was stored and not directed straight to the grid this would even out the demand in peak hours with no need to sell electricity to surrounding countries.
The transition to renewables might never reach 100% for highly populated industrialized countries. I dunno.
Maybe it will or they could offset.
Germany are currently confronted with a political problem with Russian gas going through the Ukraine to Germany.
Energy will be very high on the minds with those in power.
