You have a culture that has existed for 60,000+ years that had no age of consent for children at 16 (or 18 with adults in positions of responsibility) i.e the law.
You have indigenous communities who believe that they are not accountable to white fellas laws & institutions.
You have indigenous leaders who believe that they should live by traditional forms of governance & punishment without interference by white fellas.

Do you really think that sexual abuse of girls under 16 ( i.e adults having sex with girls under 16) is not prevalent?
Do you condone sex with under 16's?
