Bravo Tarvold you are progressing. So we have now established that culture has probably got a big bearing on the perceived lack of importance to schooling? I'm excited that a new Aussie like you is being educated. Now what do we do about the cultural aspect? It's obviously too late to begin educating the parents in maths , english etc , so the focus must be the kids, so they have some hope of breaking the community lifestyle.
I see no magic bullet to achieve this, but a Voice would have been handy when policy became formulated. I doubt paying them to attend school would work, which has been tried. There's groups in a few areas who are having success with feeding the kids when they arrive at school. Other areas have school marshals who round the kids up, i'm not sure how successful that method is because the kids have to want to be there.
Again a Voice would have been a wonderful source of advice.
