To my way of thinking stop losses usually get met at some point, sometimes deliberately manipulated like you say, I do keep my own stop loss in my head an not with a broker, that way I get to choose when I sell, not some broker of a bloody computer, I don't know if there were any stop losses triggered yesterday? but I suspect so? simply because of the meteoric rise recently.
I reckon some recent nervous buyers put in stop losses, well they worked, but not for the reason they think in my opinion.
