Step back and try to see the big picture...

Our govt has a huge problem....and it's not only our govt....those who expect govt handouts and keep govts in power are starting to outnumber those who provide the funds and services to those who require them or demand them..So I don't think the govt has the general public's interests at heart...

The first thing to realise about any government body, or opposition, is that their primary ambition is to stay in power or attain power...at whatever cost...Don't believe a word any politian tells you ..they are only interested in one thing ...becoming prime minister....who goes to canberra to be a back bencher?

To stay in power or attain power, political groups need two things..... votes and funds...

Those who provide the votes and those who provide the funds aren't necessarily the same groups or individuals....

A high proportion of those who provide the votes to elect the government are non-producers (pensioners, asylum seekers, first home buyers, third world country representives, any number of special interest groups...etc etc)...no offence to these people as it is often no choice of their own...

Anyway, the govt can't ignore these groups as they provide an important number of votes and their vote is needed to stay in power, or in the case of the opposition to be elected. Therefore the needs of these special interest groups have to be addressed and this ALWAYS involves money......

Those who provide the funds for the government to satisfy these needs are always productive and their production is taxed through a variety of avenues.......(income tax, GST, land tax etc etc companies farmers traders).....

The natural tendency of these groups is to create, to make money, make things happen and the govt feeds on them like a parasite....sucking funds out of them and redirecting it to the non producers in return for votes in order to maintain power.....By far the largest productive group is the ordinary tax payer....who by nature of their own desire to prosper and succeed become financial providers to those who don't!

But these two groups aren't mutually exclusive...frequently, those that often demand money from the government as handouts are the very same taxpayers who provide it....they just can't see the connection...a paradox to speak...

Back to the point...so what happens when the productive are outnumbered by the non-productive.....the system overloads...the have nots can't be provided for and those that are affluent have assets they need to protect ...

Unfortunately, history has shown that when the have nots outnumber the haves and can't be catered for anymore all hell breaks loose....When governments can't cater for the masses those that are seen to be affluent are targeted....

The social security bubble is about to burst!
