Some people think they can protect themselves with gold, guns and stockpiling, but ultimately I think this will be about as useful as the individual ants in an ant colony cut off from food and water trying to protect themselves from each other.
IMO, Short of a safe unionised government job that would be bankrolled with tax receipts levied against society at large (most likely at the expense of actual government services and infrastructure spend if needs be) there is nowhere for the average person to hide from what is coming over the next few decades.
Outside chance is that skunk works project that flies in the face of accepted atomic physics (yet a bit of patent evidence and tests elsewhere indicate that there is substance to it) will provide temporary respite for a few decades if they pull it off but even in that case we would see TRILLIONS of dollars of current energy assets wiped out on technology confirmation that would in itself require a [temporary?] cessation of the current economic system to implement.
There is no solution. Nobody has any power to make any change to our socio-economic system because our society is riddled with corruption at every level.
