yes, vices - i would guess online poker and video games would get a good run in a depression.
lumber was the early indicator of a general slide in commodities and was first out the gate on this upturn. um, on the futures market, not on timbercorp.
gold is an easy answer, but it may end up being just another commodity. my guess, is that some commodities will do far much better than others. and here the trend is a move down the food chain. sugar and grains come to mind as becoming more important in a down turn/depression than gold
