Amidst the heat on the EGO thread, someone asked for my thoughts on SSN. Well it's quite simple really.
SSN have superb management. Anyone who can recover a company from the gloom of the GFC deserves big acknowledgements. But not only have they brought Samson back to a reasonable level, they have surpassed any reasonable expectations of themselves. Furthermore, they have signed lucrative JV partnerships with high-class international O&G companies in 2010/2011 that leaves the company in good stead for the long term future.
SSN have massive estimated reserves that would support long term production. Unlike many speculative companies who are off in their own world trying to uncover new unexplored prospects around the world, Samson are working amongst the big time oil and gas producers. Low risk exploration. Low risk development. Massive upside.
SSN have a large cash balance. ~$70M. Money will be there for a long time yet to allow Samson to go off and develop acreage elsewhere, or to get the drill bit into the Niobrara over the coming 18-24 months. The options with this cash are endless. Cash is king, as they say.
SSN are already making revenue, even before all the upside in the Niobrara comes to fruition. Averaging over 600BOEPD if I recall correctly, Samson are making operational profits that only serve to add to the strong fundamentals in the company from it's exploration endeavours.
For mine, this stock is the sort of thing that you load up on big time between 14-18 cents over the coming month or so, and sit back and watch your investment grow multiple times in value over the coming few years.
If the Niobrara lives up to it's potential, SSN will be mid-tier O&G company to be reckoned with over the coming years. 2010 was the exciting prelude to what lies ahead for Samson.
I've heard a few AUT comparions over the past few months, well in my opinion, SSN is geared up to replicate similar success to Aurora. Just a pity I bailed when I did at 11cents. I'll be looking for a re-entry at some stage over the coming few months though. Just need to free up some funds from my shorter term positions etc beforehand :)
