Lets not rewrite history. Howard went to the polls with a NO GST PROMISE and then turned around and "made it so" - the tax we had to have! And of course, there was no real opposition, after all, since everyone was going to be slugged equally, business could not have cared less.
I vote no for the proposal. My suggestion is perhaps now we could say that the country is rudderless? Much the same as when Libs are in power - do nothing, don't risk anything, leave the reforms to labor...
PS: How about another competition though? The first idiot to make something out of the new PM's name?
