    Thanks SF.

Well, that does seem to back up the contention that a deal on CSG was imminent before the Rudd Government became the Gillard Government.

However, I suspect such a deal has only been delayed briefly. Gillard needs to be seen to be able to reach a compromise deal with parts of the mining industry.

This bit is particularly important, imo:

"One source says the rate [at which the RSPT would cut in at for CSG] would have been more than twice that figure for the gas producers -- in fact, even more generous than the PRRT, which is about 11 per cent.

Even more importantly, unlike the RSPT, development and acquisition costs could have been written off during the transition, further significantly lowering the point at which any tax kicked in."

Can you imagine the effect on the CSG industry were such a compromise to be reached? - "Development and acquisition costs to be written off during the transition..."

No wonder Santos were in their lobbying for this compromise!

And with two other major pieces of news this week:

    - Gillard seeking to put a price of carbon,
    - The NSW power privatisation.

Both very good news for ESG.

    Y
