jdick I'm in the industry. Insurance is of course a must, however in this case the problem was equipment stuck down the hole - not a disaster. Simply put, this is not insurable. Tools get stuck down hole all the time in the course of routine drilling operations. Sometimes the tools can not be retrieved, forcing the well to be abandoned and perhaps redrilled, as happened in this case.
