Agree - brokers are gooses. I remember the Sun newspaper (acknowledge not the most credible source) ran a small experiment last year by making up two separate pretend portfolios of stocks - one portfolio included all of the consensus SELL recommendations from a range of brokers and the other portfolio was made up only of BUY consensus recs..

Over a 12 month period the portfolio of BUY stocks outperformed the SELL portfolio by less than 2%.

Moral: I reckon you could throw darts at a board of stocks and outperform most brokers.
