I am investing mostly in the NYSE and NASDAQ exchanges.
It looks to me that only in ASX you see such a blatant manipulation as we saw with LYC.
In the US the LYC shares are traded in the pink sheets as lyscf and lysdy. Its not possible to short pink sheets and also there are no put or call options of these stocks.
Therefore, these shares behave much more reasonably according to their commercial prospects. For example, yesterday, all the markets were green and LYC went up for only 2 cents whereas LYSCF went up by 5 cents and LYSDY by 6 cents. I am sure it is because of heavy manipulation in the ASX.
I trade in the US and other countries for more than 30 years but I never saw such a blatant manipulation elsewhere. It seems to me that the ASX is like the wild west with no active supervision by the ASIC. Probably in the ASX there are much fewer hedge funds which make it much easier to collude.
Also, many of the workers in the ASIC see their job there only as temporary and plan to use their position to find much more paying job in the hedge funds industry. Thus, they are trying to form good relations with the hedge funds and overlooking a lot of their illegal actions. The hedge funds know that and allow themselves to do whatever they want without fear of the law.
I saw many posts here that write that what happened is legal because shorting is legal.
That is NOT TRUE. COLLUDING AND PRICE FIXING IS ILLEGAL EVEN IN THE ASX!!!. You as Australians MUST complain to the media and to authorities if you want to force the corrupted ASIC to act. Otherwise, the hedge funds will continue fleecing the small investors, I mean you and me.
