Hello all and thanks for the recent wonderful posts. Full of curiosity this morning i rang the navy to see if they new anything about last nights 9 news. Alas no. Then it occcured to me just ring the bloody company, always the best way with any company i have been lucky so far anyway. t. The secretary put me thru to a nice bloke named Greg. He didnt say what he did as a job title but seemed to have a handle on all my simple questions. Excuse if all or some of this is already known. 5 m.w. test facility to be installed in the Sepia trench between 5 Fathom bank and Garden island. This will use 25 ceto 3 units with the military using all the power. The island has a peak use of 8 m.w but im guessing they would use half or less of that most of the time. Didnt ask if any extra unused power would be exported onto the mainland if not used by the miltary. The units will be deployed this year and start sending power onto the island next year, i think they will go into some sort of test mode when first deployed. This operation is the precurser to the 50 m.w. facility. We spoke about the possible sites for the "big one" with Albany South Aus and G I all being mentioned. Its so nice speaking to somebody as you can often glean that little extra info from a tone or a comment. I wasnt crass enough to ask him his favorite site but I am betting its Garden Island! Thou i think the Dockers are a good bet to beat Geelong ..well at 8 to 1 . Cheers
