i reckon the lesson to be learnt is to call when the boss is away! I think Ottaviano would have stuck closer to the public script - perhaps the employee you spoke to lives and breathes the work so much that he wasnt exactly sure what the public script was. Nice info nonetheless.

It is really interesting with respect to the first site. I think the WA and Fed govt will be pushing for Albany - there arent many votes on Garden Island. But i'm beginning to think that CNM's preference might be to start with Garden Island.

It just seems that they have a lot more flexibility and less red tape there. With Albany they've been working on their Environmental assessments for about a year. With Garden Island, they only announced their MOU in Feb, havent even released a preliminary environmental assessment, yet they already seem to have permission to put CETO III devices into the water (or perhaps permission for the whole 25?). I wonder if it is really so much easier, and if so why? Who "owns/controls" the land/sea bed on Garden Island? Does the Dept of Def have complete control?

While Albany has the potential for an easy 250MW, Garden Island could 'power perth", allowing for such continual future expansion that it has to be enticing. It would also provide a better location to "show off" the plant to international buyers, but i doubt that's too high on their care factor.

Out of interest, is GI connected to the grid in a way that would immediately allow CNM to export the power, without spending an enormous amount on transmission infrastructure?

And BB, whoever it is that's high up at CH 9 didnt buy their first shares at 22c. They got in years ago and have been leading the cheer squad at every opportunity since. On one occassion last year or in 2007, Ch 9 in 4 states ran the same "general" story on CETO, on the same night, but with their own "potential site" as the focus. It was the best co-ordinated piece of media blitzing from a small company that i'd seen in a long time. Exceptional stuff.
