I always tell the anecdote of visiting the team at the now defunct Brazairon to try to get some work for our process team on their PFS.
They had a deposit in the middle of the Amazon 1,800 kmts from the nearest port with no power, no roads, no train and the nearby river dried up six months of the year, so no water either - No way to transport the ore and even high sovereign risk.
We judged it would never ever work as a project even tho the ore was good (because of lack of infrastructure and small size of the deposit to pay for required infrastructure) but wondered who in his right mind was investing in them. They moved on to buy a co that installs road signs so go figure their mining experience.
They had a team of 5 with he CEO on 1/2 mill pa and let me tell you they were not alone, I can tell a few more stories from visiting these guys around the country and those I heard over the years in Kalgoorlie at Mines and Money at after conference drinks.
I am not saying that ARD are the same, I met a lot of switched on guys and some of the smartest people in the planet as well, but I saw the inner workings in mining and learnt to have a healthy distrust of mining executives.
The current ARD management's behaviour is throwing all sort of red signals to me, so I'll stand on the sidelines for now hoping they do come through for current holders.
And my own experience is losing 12 grand so far by hangin on too long and would have lost another 4 yesterday had I not sold early. I bought my first lot at 0.38 and had built up to 1.8 mill shares.
