The story re: saving versus wasting has been going on for many years. Many miners in Kalgoorlie know the story.
Some of these young guys don't look past their next pay check.
So what become of them when they are 40 and too old to do manual labour on the mines which has taken it out of them over many years.
Only a handful will make it to management level (probably those that don't party every night).
I have seen many 40 somethings stuck in a crappy town living in crappy conditions as that is all they can afford. Living a crappy life. But hey, they had a great time when they were younger....
I have also seen family members not saving for a rainy day and now they have nothing, blame everyone and resent you for what you have...
