Geez, who do you think sweeps floors, cleans toilets, picks up cups and plates, digs holes, washes cars, works on a production line, sweats, bleeds, etc,etc. Minimum wages have nothing to do with it.
Perhaps you don't know anyone personally who has a low end job and thus you are showing classic signs of the disconnect that is happening everywhere.

There are plenty of low end jobs, but Australian kids get taught these days that they can/will all go to university and have a fantastic high paying job. They are taught that everyone can succeed, and they have very high expectations of what working for a living will be all about. In the harsh reality of modern life many will not succeed. Someone has to do the crap jobs, and many will do crap jobs for life.
We are constantly bombarded with stories of success and after a while we tend to think that is all there is in life, sadly many will never rise above the 'low end'.
