One thing I noticed recently was the examinations that don't require a written or calculated answer, but "tick a box". I remember doing one where, if you didn't know the answer you had a guess. An educated guess and you'll get it right 75% of the time. A "wild" guess and you probably have a 50% chance of being right, and that is for the questions where you didn't know the answer.
With the low standards set now so that you don't "offend", anything over 50% is considered a pass. Is this the reason why the Australian education is one of the worst in the developed world.
