IMHO putting dollars up is meaningless, we have no way of checking or believing what is up there.
That 20k you made on a trade could be chump change to someone else.
Better to express in %. You made 23% on a trade or are up/down an overall 11% in the last year.
If you are holding a loss, that is not yet crystalised you have to count that too.
