Dear Hap007
Thanks for asking.
1. "Where do you get your info?"
-The remaining CO2 per person can be calculated from international climate panels estimates
for maximum 1.5 degrees by dividing by number of people in the world which would give about 40 tons
for next 30 years and when considering national income about 16 tons for rich nations.
The amount consumed for building an electric car can be found by google.
2. "No one is sacrificing anything. One little scar in the (Greenland) outback won't even be noticed. Their country is three times the size of Texas. You mean they can't give up a few square kilometers for the good of the whole country. Greedy investors? So you don't like capitalism, and anyone who seeks a better life is greedy? LOL! It is obvious you haven't any idea what you are talking about."
- It is not outback but some of the best scarce land and soil they have in a populated region. The land under ice not worth anything, and to get it cultivable when it would be revealed will take a long time. The footprint would be in tens of square kilometers, considering pollution and that would last for a least centuries.
It greed and cheating to even suggest a large open pit in such region for toxic REE and radioactives mining.
3. "Thorium may end up, finally, an answer to locally generated power."
- Part of it possibly, but there should be plan for that, and very substantial part would anyway end up into the nature with the open pit plan and after closure to waters from pits and wastes.
It is OK to look for better life, and it would be more likely successful
if sustainability is considered with investments.
It is not your fault but tradition of the mining industry.
