More and more , a communist style regime we live under. So what are peoples thoughts?? If the Government freezes rent increases, they should have before frozen interest rates. It is so skewed towards people doing less, rather than doing more.. So lets say as background information you consider this.
2 houses , identical , next to each other ... 2 people who work in the same factory live in these 2 houses. One has bought it and paying $450 a week repayment, the other is renting paying $450 a week rent. (the purchaser also has council rates $40 a week maintenance etc) The factory goes into liquidation. Both lose their jobs. The person buying gets no help, the person renting gets Rent assistance... hmmm
Ok now lets look at current situation , the same two people.. Interest rates rise (like they have) so now the buying person is paying $700 in repayments . The owner of the property that is rented has a similar increase , so wants to charge more to cover costs ... Then the government steps in and says NUP... no we are freezing rents ....
