The conventional gas at Elswick is a single shaft in low porosity sandstone which was producing enough gas to power a generator of 1Mw. (1000Kw) which is now out of operation. Presumably worn out. Think they got this area to explore further and deeper. Its prospective for shale deeper down? More interesting is the Balcombe find, which is 75% owned. The first drill has been put in but the local council banned the flow test. Strewth, if this generation of people had been alive a few hundred years ago the industrial revolution would have been stillborn. This was appealed in court and the council lost. More time wasted. Now the council is appealing to a higher court. Wonder how they are enjoying the staggering cost of electricity now in UK. Looks like giving the hoy-paloy voting power was not a good idea.
