interestingly, after reading this thread I have actually made some even bigger loses than TLS and GPT
I also made some massive loses on BNB and OZL funny thing is they seem to have slipped my memory and I overlooked them. that must be how the mind works. It forgets the really bad experiences
thanx to reb and few others for reminding me of these loses, particularly reb an amazing story actually I think all these loses are invaluable lessons, provided they don't wipe you out totally. Most of the problems seem to have occured as a result of not selling out near the top of the cycle
A lot of pain can be avoided by tracking macro data such as cpi, gdp, rates of unemployment etc, stockmarket indices and trying to work out where we are in the cycle. Easier said than done though. A lot can be learnt from doom and gloomers I reckon like Marc Faber, peter schiff, Jim Rogers etc They think the sky will fall in but in the meantime they seem to be able to spot the odd trend and have few good investment ideas eg gold, uranium, shot guns and tractors
