    the right to abstain is also part of the process but in our present form of "democracy" that right is withdrawn.

    to force one under threat of punitive or fudiciary punishments to do something isnt freedom nor is it democratic and the results are less meaningful than had the situation been the other way around.

    one of the main reasons it is compulsory is because of the $2.00 they get for each primary vote. something can be said for compulsory voting in a small population but this is not relevant here
