Yttrium prices see recovery in Europe

Prices of yttrium oxide appeared to have firmed considerably over the course January though demand is still patchy in Europe.
Some traders have seen a some enquiries for yttrium oxide, though not much demand in the spot market. One European trader said he recently concluded a one tonne transaction for yttrium in the mid-$50/kg range, compared with a deal struck in the mid-$40/kg back in December 2012. Demand came from the ceramics industry.
“There definitely appears to be a rebound in prices,” a European trader said. Pricing appears to reflect more aggressive offers out of China.
