Party Of Regions Decides To Abstain From Voting On Premier And Government (10:25, Tuesday, December 11, 2007)

The Party of Regions faction has decided not to take part in the voting on the candidature for the post of prime minister and ministers of the new government.

One of the party leader Raisa Bohatyriova disclosed this to journalists.

According to her, the corresponding decision was taken by the faction's meeting yesterday.

"Yesterday we made the decision not to vote for the premier or government," she said.

Bohatyriova also noted that the Party of Regions is still insisting on appointing Adam Martyniuk (Communist Party) to the post of first deputy speaker.

According to Bohatyriova, the Party of Regions supports package voting for the first vice speaker and vice speaker.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada will consider appointment of the prime minister on Tuesday, December 11.

Candidate for the premiership and BYT faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko is sure she will be elected as the premier and new Cabinet of Ministers will be formed on Tuesday, December 11.
