Z1P to acquire Afterpay. Split my coffee seeing that and the justification was just as terrible as this thread.
Just face it most of you don't know what you are talking about. You are bored on lockdown and spend most of your day checking your nabtrade, self wealth or commsec account to see it is red or green. Then come to Hotcopper to act accordingly depending on what your protfolio is doing. If it's red you vent your frustration. If it's green you pump the stock hard with ridiculous claims. No research done, quote an article here and there, mention a quote the bear minimum haha. Then watch some company presentations and finance "gurus" (who are mostly stockbrokers lmao) and call yourself an "expert". Read the annual report looking at top line (revenues) see the growth % and go "yea that's great, let's invest before someone else beat me to the punch" instead of reading the notes in annual report after the financials. Buy shares at $9 and since you are gambling I am guessing between $1000- $10,000's. See the share price plummet (30% loss of capital). If the share price does not bounce back to $9 within this week, you'll sell it off and now with 70% of capital you either put money on a similar stock that had a similar run or a stock that you saw on the news. Then repeat the cycle. The only difference between stock market and a casino is that you are not getting bankrupt quickly, but you will if you trade long enough.
My Zip thesis is that BNPL is a massive market that Zip can achieve a $10B valuation. FYI $10B is 0.05% of the global $20 Trillion payments market. ZIP is like Earth compared to the milky way galaxy. It looks big to people living on Earth but when an alien looks at the milky way, they start laughing cause they can't even see you.
To the fools out there using historical fundamentals, the BNPL is nothing more than a race for market share. That's the undeniable fact. Whoever get users first (either consumers of merchants) can build a moat more quickly to ward off the competition. Afterpay is the leader but Zip's acquisition of QuadPay brings 2million more users to a total of 4 million users. We are at the hyperscale growth phase for both companies. I think both will win, but Afterpay will be the leader. Sezzle, I feel could get acquired by a US company like Paypal and with a further pullback today, it is an even better price me to enter.
Zip is fighting for second place not first place. If anything Afterpay would acquire Zip although both already made acquisitions so I don't think they can raise more capital for future large acquisitions.
