OIL and gas explorations are expected to commence soon following the awarding of oil and gas blocks to successful bidders, Minister of Mines, Energy and Water development Christopher Yaluma says.
Mr Yaluma said that Government recently completed the evaluation of bids for oil and gas explorations and has since informed the successful bidders.
“I can confirm that Government has awarded licenses to the successful bidders based on recommendations and our own evaluation as the ministerial petroleum committee and the investors have been informed about the development,” he said.
He said this in an interview last weekend.
In May this year, Government invited bids for oil and gas exploration licenses in 31 blocks in Luapula, Northern, North Western, Western, Southern and Eastern Provinces in accordance with the provisions of Section 9 of the Petroleum -Exploration and Production Act No. 10 of 2008.
Mr Yaluma, who could however not name the successful bidders, said the companies include British, South African and French firms.
He said the investors are expected to move on sites soon.
“The successful bidders will be moving on the sites soon as they mobilise funds. It is important to note that these projects require a lot of money,” he said.

Is it one, two or three for Swala? We have to wait for the call from the judges....either way, shes a winner today in our books.



Well, a stellar run from the young filly Swala...surely one to watch in the future....she's a rising star, An African Queen in waiting.
