Abu Musab Zarqawi Abu Musab Zarqawi, the al-Qaeda leader in Iraq and alleged mastermind behind the hostage-taking incidents and attacks on the coalition forces has been reportedly arrested.
Reports in the Kuwaiti media said Friday a man assumed to be Zarqawi has been captured near the Syrian-Iraq border.
The man was nabbed during a joint operation by the US forces and the Iraqi police, Al Siyasah newspaper, reported quoting Iraqi sources.
Iraqi police have been reported to have claimed that Zarqawi, the most wanted terrorist in Iraq carrying a reward of $25 million, put up no resistance when he was arrested.
The investigating agencies are testing his DNA sample to confirm his identity, the unconfirmed report added.
