Fair point. Your second last paragraph certainly may well be the outcome, but the way the war is proceeding in it's current form, it seems unlikely. Putin appears undeterred by sanctions and as we know, he is reaping in more money than prior to the war. If the friendly allied countries can assist with 'energising' European countries, to the exclusion of Russian energy, then I think there is a chance for the outcome you mentioned.
