I am also like you thinking of maybe retiring a few years early but have helped financially with two of my children buy their first home, one I didn't have to as he has been very work committed since graduating from uni 14 years ago, the other son is playing the field, but all have excellent jobs and rarely have a day off (learnt that from their father)
Life is good for me with grandchildren, they love there poppy more than there nanny as I can still wear them out quicker than they wear me out.
It is for them that I have concerns for and I hope some of my legacy carries over to them.
