Zog, what you learnt all of those years ago would probably be obsolete, you need to understand things change, as they say "man's gots to know his limitations"
"Some things change , some things don't"
For instance, I put the very first digital cellular telephone base station to air back in 1986 in Victoria , just one week after Sydney's launch, made the first cellular telephone call Vctoria, it was considered state of the art back then, that was Generation 1 ,they are now at Gen5 I believe and Gen6 is on the way, now if you asked me how they worked in principle now, I would not have a bloody clue.
But what my training did do is teach me how to read white papers, technical journals, patents, manuals etc, and it also taught me how to read pert charts, Pictorial flow diagrams etc, we used to joke about the last thing you do when in trouble was read the handbook or manual.
But in general these are things that don't change.
You need to realize that with every generational change, there are things that will change dramatically, they have been invented by smarter and younger people than ourselves, and each change brings with it another idea, that's just how things pan out and what I learned all those years and worked on mind you will have changed dramatically, I think you place too much credence on your creds and what you were taught but never worked on as you admit.
