Just something else here on this subject, I reckon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd (SQC) and UNSW Sydney already have some Zero Spin Silicon prototype chips, you can't tell me they would be waiting for three years for Silex to perfect what they have before they can test their theories, the race is on and it has been said Quantum computing and UNSW are one of the world leaders, how the hell could they have achieved record results last year?
Besides IQE are also working on a quantum dot optical chip that was announced recently, it will be used for transmission purposes at much higher speed available today.
To me, like night follows day, would it not be logical that they also need zero spin silicon for this quantum dot optical chip?
I reckon they already have that there too!
ZSS is almost without impurities, "Moores Law" is starting to hit a wall due to impurities in Silicon, the more transistors on a chip the hotter it gets, this is caused by the impurities in the silicon, it causes what they call thermal runaway, where when a chip gets hotter the resistance increase and if the resistance increases the hotter it gets, it basically falls off a cliff, in effect it chases it's tail, a silicon with almost no impurities would help this immensely, but so would something else IMHO.
Something newcomers here may not know? is that Translucent had a patent for what is called optical cooling, I reckon IQE may use this also one day if not now?
Some of the Quantum computers today rely on them being extremely cold, they are huge and would be impracticable for smaller quantum computers that run much warmer, optical cooling and pure Zero Spin Silicon would help IMHO
