"Australia just isn't a viable place to make basic clothes anymore."

How can Australian companies compete with Chinese sweat shops that make their workers (inc children) work for 12hrs per day for 1 aud? They can't? Unless our government puts a stop to sweatshop goods being sold in Australia, and impose tough penalties on the importers of these goods, including jail time. The problem here is greed. A lot of retailers of clothing are buying from China clothing for $1 a piece, and yet charging the consumer up to $100. Now if it was made in Oz, it'd maybe cost $20, but they'd still be making $80. Everyone wins, but no, these greedy bigwigs have to get every last cent, even if it means exploiting children in far away lands at the expense of Australian workers! Make me sick to the core.
