All too true d25, i was at the isa when that take over happen. The ceo at the time tried to tell share holds etc that the offer of 4.9 billion was to low from xstrata. However it went thru, another aussie icon gone for a song.(that ceo left the campany, could have been told but i think he was so p*&sed off)Then xstrata sold 5 assets off (i think it was 5 crap coal mines) for 4.9 billion. Thus giving them a free company. soon after that base metals prices started to increase and coal went thru the roof. Yes great companys can be taken over for a song. (mim was trading between .70 and 1.00 at the time if i remember right, what would it be worth now?)
