The trading halt has little to do with the materiality of this patent. The issue is that the inventor is Lev's son and not on the payroll of ANO, as far as we know. As the CEO and shareholder of AIR, he is mostly incentivized to compete with ANO's customers, as far as AIR's dealings with ANO are concerned. This might be okay if there were Chinese walls between ANO and AIR operations, so to speak, but this does not appear to be the case at all. Joseph is likely privy to all insider knowledge at ANO because the rest of his board is made up of ANO management.

This obvious conflict of interest is now having a very real impact on minority shareholders of ANO with a trading halt at a time when some may need liquidity the most or others may really want to increase their position. It shines a light on concerns of many investors have about a lack of professionalism in communications with shareholders and other stakeholders. These concerns can easily be downplayed or ignored when our largest distributor is growing sales for us at triple digits, but we are shooting ourselves in the foot longer term by diverting management resources to a business venture that competes with our customers. There will always be room for a higher priced nano zinc oxide of somewhat inferior quality if you also get great customer service and no conflicts of interest with it. ANO should be beating competitors on all fronts... that will require more investment in good people.

Ultimately this is Lev's call. He has a long track record of figuring out the right thing to do and then doing it. This is a relatively new arrangement and perhaps adjustments will be made as issues become apparent. Maybe AIR is absorbed into ANO in some capacity to align Joseph and prepare him to run the whole thing one day. I'll most likely still be around to see it.
