Does anyone know what Zinc price would make this mine a goer? or it it a case that there are other mines that would come online to fill demand with a lower cost base and therefor keep prices down?
The estimated capital costs to develop this operation, including access road construction and port facilities upgrades, was US$227 million, with a further 20% contingency allowance of $45 million and an estimated pre-strip cost of $20 million. Cost estimates equate to US$0.70 per pound of payable metal (lead or zinc).
Cost estimates are exclusive of stevedoring, shipping, treatment and refining costs, taxes, permitting costs, government or community fees and
charges.
Current price of zinc is about $1880 pert ton or or 0.93/lb (assuming 2000lbs in a ton - long time since I was a school)
