Am on your wavelegth. Have posted similarly in the past. Of course as you are aware that idea is taken up in the letter to the Hebrews where Jerusalem and Zion are taken as equivalent expressions in the NT writings around about AD 60. Thus it is hardly a novel idea that Zion and Jerusalem are synonyms.

(Heb 12: 18 You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; 19 to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, 20 because they could not bear what was commanded: "If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned." 21 The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, "I am trembling with fear."

It is interesting that some of those who despise Irael's right to it's sacred sites (it's land) would have a fit if it was suggested that it is OK to ridicule Australian Aboriginal's rights to their sacred sites. That, treating as ridiculous Jewish claims to what in effect is their sacred site, is exactly what is happening with this new worldwide wave of anti-semitism.
