The program is meant to be 40 years. We will have the subs until the late 2070s and even into the 2080s. They will be built to have extremely powerful modernization upgrades later on. Far more advanced electronics, computers, sonar, stealth etc etc. the stuff they weren't thinking about when the last big batch of subs were built in the 90s and early 2000s
