Yep this is part of the problem. Someone who just bought a house isn't going to throw it all away and default on a small credit card or bnpl account. They should ask them when they close the bnpl account if it's home loan related and then work with them and stay in touch until they find a property and then find out when it settles. It's annoying but Zip should put in the work as these are the rules we're playing with. Don't lose the customers completely.
I can't see complaining to the media working for Zip. This has always been a thing and I experienced it years ago myself, long before BNPL.
