I do think it is sad that the current climate does promote people based on factors other than their ability to perform the best out of all the available candidates. Sad because when you get a genuine promotion to a top job and they were in fact the best candidate you will always have doubts. I actually have my doubts that the top jobs ever go to the most qualified, rather to what is perceived the best fit for the time. So really no difference. So let's all just get over it and train our daughters to take full advantage and get their fair share.
