You will probably find that it is a throwback to the former state based stock exchanges that merged in the mid to late 80s.
PLY is registered under the Sydney office of the ASX
ICI is registered under the Perth office of the ASX
Over many years I have found the listings compliance staff at the Perth ASX office are very strict with their handling of listed companies. They issue a lot more "please explains" and retractions than all the other ASX offices combined.
You will probably find that it is a throwback to the former...
